Procedure Overview
Patient Evaluation: Before undergoing hair transplantation, patients undergo a thorough evaluation to assess their suitability for the procedure, hair loss pattern, donor hair availability, and realistic expectations. This evaluation includes a medical history review, scalp examination, and discussion of treatment goals.
Donor Hair Harvesting: Hair follicles for transplantation are typically harvested from the back or sides of the scalp, where hair is genetically resistant to balding. The follicles are carefully extracted either through follicular unit extraction (FUE) or follicular unit transplantation (FUT) techniques, preserving their integrity and viability for transplantation.
Transplantation Process: The harvested hair follicles are meticulously transplanted into recipient sites on the scalp using specialized instruments. The surgeon ensures precise placement and orientation of the follicles to achieve natural-looking results and optimal hair density. The procedure may take several hours to complete, depending on the extent of hair loss and the number of grafts required.
Recovery and Results: Following hair transplantation, patients may experience some mild discomfort, swelling, or temporary shedding of transplanted hair, which is a normal part of the healing process. Over the coming months, the transplanted hair follicles gradually establish blood supply and begin to grow hair naturally. Patients can expect to see noticeable improvement in hair density and appearance within 6 to 12 months post-procedure, with full results becoming apparent over time.
